We use progressive discipline to deal with tardies.
- For the first three tardies, there is no consequence, other than a verbal warning by the person who fills out the tardy slip.
- For tardies four through six, there is a lunch detention assigned. Students are told to report to lunch detention, in the Teacher's Cafeteria. (House offices may have other notification procedures for assigning detentions.)
- On the seventh tardy, 2 hours of Saturday School is assigned.
- Another two hours of Saturday School is assigned on the eighth tardy.
- On the 9th tardy, the house principal may choose to give In-School Suspension or another consequence, including at-home suspension.
- Consequences for tardies beyond the 10th are at the discretion of the house principal.
Tardy slips are given out the first 20 minutes of a class period. After the first 20 minutes, the student is marked absent and must obtain a readmit from the house office.
During 1st period, students report to the Teacher's Cafeteria for their tardy slips.
For periods 2-6, students report to the Attendance Office, in the front of the Administration building.
The only way to excuse a tardy is with an official note/letter from court or doctor/dentist. Notes from parents do not excuse tardies.
