DONATIONS TO GRAD NITE 2008
In 1990, an ambitious and dedicated group of parents organized the first GRAD NITE at Samohi. It is with honor that this year's Steering Committee continues the tradition. National statistics show that more students are inquired and killed in car accidents on their graduation night, than any other night of the year. The 2008 Grad Nite volunteers are as dedicated to keeping our seniors safe, as was the first committee.
Thanks to the generous support of people like you, we are now planning our 18th annual Grad Nite celebration at Santa Monica High School.
Grad Nite is an all night party, to be held at Samohi - Thursday, June 19, 2008, 9:30 PM to 5:00 AM. The event begins a few hours after the graduation ceremony. Samohi and Olympic graduating seniors are the only students in attendance. Students should be dropped off at th 7th and Michigan gate or park in the North Lot and enter by the Softball Field. The facade of the cruise ship stands in front of the tennis courts which are tented and decorated to reflect the fantasy destination chosen by this senior class! Inside students dance the night away to a DJ, play carnival games, gamble at casino tables, redeem winnings at a prize booth, and participate in surprise activities with food and beverages provided all night long. At 4:30 AM breakfast is served; they receive their diplomas, a bag of goodies, and as the sun rises the Class of 2008 departs after a safe party night!
This important community sponsored effort can be helped with a donation of money, gift certificates, or merchandise appropriate for our graduates. Putting on this party is worth it, but it is only with the help of our community and the support of parents and volunteers that we can create an event that students will remember all their "long" lives.
