The National Portfolio Day Association (NPDA) was created in 1978, solely for the organization and planning of National Portfolio Days. The Association consists of representatives from regionally accredited colleges and universities, which are members of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The Baltimore Pre-College Studio Residency Program is a four-week program offering students an opportunity to immerse themselves in college-level studio classes while residing on MICA’s campus with other young artists and designers from around the country and around the world. The Pre-College Studio Residency Program in Tuscany offers a three week college-level experience in the tradition of MICA’s study abroad programs. This 2-credit experience focuses on DRAWING AND PAINTING THE TUSCAN LANDSCAPE in the Monte Amiata region of Italy. http://www.mica.edu/PROGRAMS/cs/precollege/ Minneapolis College of Art and Design For two weeks, students ages 16 to 18 live on campus, experience a college-like curriculum, earn college credits, make art, build a portfolio and attend social activities. These sessions provide students the opportunity to explore their creativity and critical-thinking skills while pushing them to try a wide range of techniques and media. It's a chance to meet students from all around the country who are interested in similar things. It's an opportunity to develop independence and accountability by living in a shared space and managing time and workloads. Four-week, four-credit courses use New York City as a design laboratory. Summer Intensive Studies: Paris A residential summer program for college, adult, and high school students 16 and older. Two- and four-week courses in Paris for college credit. Students choose one of the Elective course offerings, and are automatically enrolled in a Foundation class, an Art History class, and a Portfolio Development class, to complement their elective of choice. http://www.pratt.edu/ccps-precollege# Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) The RISD Pre-College Program is designed to give 16- to 18-year-old high school students an introduction to the college art school experience. For six weeks, you’ll follow a college-like studio curriculum, live in RISD residence halls and have fun on weekend outings to museums, beaches and area cultural attractions, while maintaining a high level of initiative and responsibility regarding your work and behavior. Three elective college credits will be awarded to all first-time students who successfully complete PreCollege Perspective. http://www.ringling.edu/PreCollege.77.0.html San Francisco Art Institute Experience SFAI’s PreCollege Programa five-week, five-college-credit program especially designed for those artists who have completed the 10th grade but who haven’t yet started college.
