For this assignment, students make a picture consisting entirely from torn (not cut) paper. The goal is to interpret the picture using a new medium. Students may use plain colored paper or magazine paper, and are reminded to think about the texture of each paper and how they will fit together. Students are urged to think about making deep, complex areas of color. For example, instead of using one large piece of blue, find many colors that read – as a whole - as blue.
