COURSE PHILOSOPHY – PURPOSE
Art is an important study as a means to enrich a person’s life by exposing them to art trends and terms; it helps those who study it become more aesthetically aware. The arts sustain and nourish the human spirit, broaden horizons, shape emotions and stimulate minds. The creative process in art production introduces the student to creative approaches that can also be utilized in day-to-day problem solving situations.

Photography is a relatively recent addition to the world of art. It has been viewed both as fine and functional art. The first semester of this course introduces the students to basic black and white photographic techniques and basic digital image manipulation. The second through forth semester expands gelatin silver photographic methods and introduces color printing techniques and advance digital concepts. Besides focusing on general production, studio lighting approaches and darkroom processes, this course will also give attention to the criticism, history and aesthetics of photography.
