Each year, the English classes at Samohi give a standardized writing exam, using a prompt developed by the district (DWP.)
A score of "3" is the minimum acceptable average:
These tests are scored by a team of English teachers. The score can range between one to five. A score of "3" is considered to be the minimum acceptable average score for English-only speakers.
In order for any English Learner student to be redesignated as fluent in English, he or she must score at least a 3 on this test and he or she must also meet the other criteria for redesignation.
