The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required by universities to ensure that international students can read, speak, and write standard American English at the collegiate level.
The university you are applying to may request that you take the TOEFL; however, many universities do not require the test of students who have graduated from an American high school.
To see if the college you are applying to requires the TOEFL, talk to the Admissions Office.
