Latin 1 P
Grade Level: 9-12
Meets UC/CSU requirements
Year course (5 credits per semester)
Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C or better in English/Language Arts class the previous semester.

This course presents ancient Latin as a fully viable language in which to converse. It emphasizes the reconstructed "classical" pronunciation in speaking and reading aloud, as well as reciting from memory real Latin texts. Translation into English, grammar, composition and some history are explored.

Latin 2 - 4 P
Grade Level: 10-12
Meets UC/CSU requirements
Year course (5 credits per semester)
Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C or better in previous semester of Latin.

Studemts will continue to build on the material learned in Latin 1, increasing oral, reading and written skills. Students will undertake the reading of actual ancient texts as well as literary criticism in the more advanced courses.

Grade Level: 12
Meets UC/CSU requirements
Year course (5 credits per semester)
Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C or better in previous semester of Latin.

This course prepares the committed student for the Advanced Placement examination in Latin, based on reading in the original Latin of either Virgil's Aeneid or the poetry of Catullus and Horace.
