Geometry A/B P
Grade Level: 9-12
Meets UC/CSU Requirements
Year Course (5 credits per semester)
Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C- in Algebra A/B
Students will study the formal development of direct and indirect proofs, and the geometric properties needed by those who plan to continue the college preparatory sequence.
Students will participate in activities and investigations that lead to geometric discoveries. The first semester will cover inductive reasoning, introductory geometry, tools of geometry, line and angle properties, triangle properties, and polygon properties.
It is recommended that students maintain a minimum grade of C- to advance to Intermediate Algebra.
Geometry A/B HP
Grade Level: 9
Meets UC/CSU Requirements
Year Course (5 credits per semester)
Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation and grade of A in 8th grade Algebra.
This course is designed for the most talented math students. Topics are the same as Geometry A/B, but with more rigorous proofs, challenging problems, and term projects.
It is recommended that students maintain a first-semester minimum grade of B- to continue into the second semester, or repeat the first semester to master the necessary skills.
Geometry A/BP - Immersion
Grade Level: 9-12

Year Course (5 credits per semester)
Prerequisite: Limited to students who have been in the Immersion Program at Edison and Adams, or Spanish-speaking students who have earned a minimum grade of B in Pre-algebra or passed the appropriate placement examination.
Students will study the formal development of direct and indirect proofs and the geometric properties needed by those who plan to continue the college preparatory sequence.
It is recommended that students maintain a minimum grade of C to advance to Intermediate Algebra.
