Introduction to Film
Grade Level: 9-12

Year Course (5 credits per semester)
Prerequisite: None Students are given a college-level introduction to the worlds of film and video. Through viewing some of the world's greatest motion pictures and several classic videos, the nature of film - both artistically and technically - is analyzed and discussed. Students become visually literate, capable of understanding and of creating video and film. Assignments include watching films, writing papers, attending Samohi productions, and class presentations.

Prerequisite: Introduction to Film
This course builds on to the knowledge and skills attained in Introduction to Film, and is designed for the student who wishes to begin making student films and videos. This class may be repeated for credit.
