Fundraising Activities and Community Support


Parent Volunteers

A steering committee of parent volunteers coordinate fundraising, concert logistics and concert support. They meet once a month. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Choir Director Jeffe Huls.

Café Samo Fundraiser

The major fundraising event of the year is held the nights of Café Samo and consists of a Silent Auction, Drawings, and the sale of Choir merchandise and attire.

Donations of goods and services for the auction are now being solicited, as are cash donations. Art works, gift certificates, products, restaurant dinners, travel packages, sports, theater and concert tickets are among the items auction organizers are seeking.

All proceeds will be used to fund the program and all donations and gifts will be acknowledged in the evening's program, the SAMOHI newspaper, and the PTSA newsletter, and all donations are tax deductible.

Tee Shirt Sales Benefit the Choir

This year, the choir is once again selling tee shirts featuring the Santa Monica High School Choir logo.

Proceeds from the sale of these shirts goes toward supporting all Samohi Choir programs.

Choral Program Wish List

The Choral Program needs your financial support. Some costly items are needed, so we are asking for your help. Please look over the following wish list. With your generous contributions, we can purchase much needed supplies and equipment for our incredible choral program. When the one-time immediate needs are met, ongoing annual needs continue. We welcome support from family, friends, and other lovers of vocal music. No donation is too small or too large. All donations are tax deductible, and 100% goes directly to the Choir. All donors will be acknowledged in Choir programs.

One-Time Needs ($7000, in order of priority)

  • Stereo System (CD, Dual Tape, DAT, Vinyl) - Recording system to be used to provide students with immediate feedback during rehersals (microphones, digital recording equipment.)
  • Mini-disc recording system
  • 32" TV (for large classes)
  • VCR/DVD
  • Set of Remo drums (tom-toms, conga, bongos, etc.)
  • Set of auxiliary percussion instruments

Ongoing Budget Needs ($10,400 annual - ongoing)

  • Sheet Music
  • Transportation to competitions and festivals
  • Blank Audio Tapes
