Grade Level: 12
Meets UC/CSU Requirements
Semester Course (5 credits)
Prerequisite: US History P or US History AP or 12th grade status.

This course is designed to provide the learner with a greater understanding of the economic system employed in the United States. Major themes to be studied include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • the free enterprise system;
  • economic supply and demand;
  • financing a business;
  • taxes;
  • government spending and budgets;
  • federal reserve system;
  • economic philosophers, and
  • global economies.

Assignments include a major paper, book reports, homework, quizzes, and tests.

Economics AP
Grade Level: 12
Meets UC/CSU Requirements
Year Course (5 credits per semester)
Prerequisite: US History P or US History AP or 12th grade status.

The content of this college-level course includes topics such as:
  • introduction to economics and economy (understanding markets, capitalism, etc.);
  • macroeconomics (income, employment, fiscal policy, banking, problems, and controversies);
  • microeconomics (supply and demand, consumer behavior, monopoly, resource markets, choice theory, labor markets), and
  • international economics and world economy.

Students are expected to take the AP exam at the end of this course.

Prerequisite: Limited to students who have been in the Immersion Program at Edison and Adams, or Spanish-speaking students.
