World History/Geography P Grade Level: 10
Meets UC/CSU Requirements Year Course (5 credits per semester) Prerequisite: None Students study major turning points that shaped the modern world, from the late eighteenth century through the present, including the cause and course of two world wars.
They trace the rise of democratic ideas and develop an understanding of the historical roots of current world issues, especially as they pertain to international relations.
Students relate current world issues to their historical, geographic, political, economic, and cultural contexts.
Students consider multiple accounts of events in order to understand international relations from a variety of perspectives.

Meets UC/CSU Requirements Year Course (5 credits per semester)
Prerequisite: World History Prerequisites: IN, EA or AD score on CELDT and completion of 9th grade and taken concurrently with Intermediate ELD or an English SE class This course follows the state framework of 10th grade Modern World
History/Geography. The class emphasizes the 19th and 20th centuries.
The literacy skills taught in the course are part of a sequence
developed by the Social
Studies Department to build study skills, analytical skills and media
awareness.

Meets UC/CSU Requirements Year Course (5 credits per semester) Prerequisite: Limited to students who have been in the Immersion Program at Edison and Adams, or Spanish-speaking students. Students study major turning points that shaped the modern world,
from the late eighteenth century through the present, including the
cause and course of the two world wars. They trace the rise of
democratic ideas and develop an understanding of the historical roots
of current world issues, especially as they pertain to international
relations. Students relate current world issues to their historical,
geographic, political, economic, and cultural contexts. Students
